NOT IF BUT WHEN . . .

Former Israeli Defense Minister: Israel Will Attack Iran by November

"While Sneh is no longer in the Israeli government, his revelation of a drop-dead date for an Israeli military strike on Iran must be taken seriously, Israel-watchers in the U.S. tell Newsmax.

“Ephraim Sneh is a serious guy,” said Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. “He was deputy minister of defense and has long been focused on the issue of Iran.”

Shoshana Bryen, Senior Director for Security Policy at the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), said that what struck her most about Sneh’s comments was the shift of emphasis from resolving the Palestinian problem to Iran.

“For 30 years, he’s been saying that solving the Palestinian problem is Israel’s biggest priority. Now he’s saying, forget about the Palestinians. Iran is the problem.”

Sneh “is extremely well regarded on the left and the right,” she added. “People respect him enormously.”

In his Op-Ed, Sneh argues that the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to mend its bridges with the United States, and the only way to do so is by enacting an immediate and total ban on any settlement activity, including in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem."

A better Middle East . . .

  1. I couldn't disagree more with the last paragraph. Knowing how the American Left operates, if Netanyahu were to make concessions on building, Obama & Co. would pressure the Israeli's to give up more of their
sovereignty bit by bit ... all in the name of 'peace'.

  2. Why is it that articles like that never end, "In his Op-Ed, Sneh argues that the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to wait until the American electorate regains its common sense"...?

I can't take this guy serious after this advice.

  4. If Israel truly intends to attack Iran by November, it likely would prefer not to have a rift with the Obama administration that works against Israel's strategic interests. A 6-8 month temporary suspension of settlement activity, serving as a diversion, is a small price to pay to keep the Obama administration off-guard and happy while war preparations are finalized. After any such attack, the reaction of the Obama administration to the fait accompli will make the current furor over the settlements seem quite minor.

  5. Obama drops all threat of US military action on Iran and on top of that, drops all threats of sanctions. Well done Iran, too bad for Israel. Netanyahu & Co have got to realise, that they have squandered all good will from the world with their nazi style barbarism against Palestine. The whole Jewish `Drama Queen´ act of `please keep feeling sorry for us and the Holocaust´ has got so boring and counterproductive. Sorry Israel, the `Holocaust´ no longer serves as a get out of jail free card for your atrocities against Palestine. You are on your own now to deal with Iran and their `Cohorts´. Learn that and accept it. Dismantle your nuclear weapons and give the land back to Palestine, and then maybe you wll be liked again.

  6. stormbringer:

tactically, strategically, & politically, ... , it is all pretty simple, really.

the logic of the situation reduces itself, inexorably, to this simple proposition.--

it is kill or be killed.

do you see any way around it? you can dance around the whole thing all you want, and consider permutations and "other factors" until you turn blue in the face, but it comes just to this.

the israelis don't take out the iranian nukes, the iranians use the nukes on israel. the entire logic of the situation demands this. you think israel is gonna sit around for years and watch iran build an arsenal?

    not gonna happen.
