Re: Special Army Unit to be Deployed Before November Elections

This thing came across my radar screen on the email machine this afternoon, from a friend who happens to be a Charter Member of Team STORMBRINGER:

I will not send this out en masse, because I don't want to panic my readers, but this is serious. We have talked about this before, but apparently all the pieces are in place, which is truly scary.

Maybe folks in LA know about Ft. Steward (sic), GA. Let me know if you hear anything.

AND SO - it is up to Uncle Stormy as usual to put a lid on this thing and get everybody to settle down . . .

To begin with this thing is so full of disinformation and alarmism I don't know where to start.

Federal troops have been deployed within the Continental United States several times within my lifetime.

The way it works is whenever there is a situation (natural disaster or civil unrest), the governor can call out the National Guard (NG) - which should probably be more aptly called the State Guard, as it is the governor's private army.

When and if the situation is too large for the governor to deal with, he can request Federal troops. This took place most recently in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

If the event is taking place on Federal property, or upon the national borders, Federal troops are to be deployed. Joint Task Force 6 - the use of Federal forces in the counternarcotics effort - is an example of this. The US Army deployed the 82d Airborne Division to pull riot duty at the Democratic National Convention in Detroit, 1968 (at personal order of President Johnson) and then again to quell disturbances amongst the Cuban boat emigres at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania in 1981 (under Reagan's watch).

Another notable example is the deployment of the 101st Airborne for the schools integration situation in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1958 (Eisenhower Administration).

80,000 troops is about three times as many as currently billeted at Fort Stewart, home of the 3d Infantry Division, which is part of the Rapid Deployment Force - which includes the 101st & the 82d for a total of about 80K - this makes me wonder if the troops they're referring to are actually the RDF itself merely training for their traditional role.

There's a lot of despair & anxiety out there. My personal philosophy calls for coolness under fire, which means keeping your head when everybody around you is losing theirs.

The floor is open for comments at this time . . .

Another fact which does not help the credibility of this article is that the 1st BDE of the 3rd Infantry Division is currently in Iraq and will not return until well after the 02 November date Anthony Martin claims they are preparing to deploy in support of.

Sorry Mr. Martin, a little fact checking may have helped your alarmist cause.

  2. No cause for alarm folks - this thing was a reply to an email I sent over my Blackberry device that somehow got rerouted to the STORMBRINGER page . . .

My intent was to develop this into a more in-depth post later this evening; I most certainly did NOT intend for it to be blasted in it's entirety - email addresses & all - all over the web . . . that's how the Trollz get a foot in my door . . .

Anyhoo the post is out there - the floor is now open for your comments . . .

  3. Sean,
This does sound a bit hokey but it does illustrate a very real problem. That is that there are some of us, and perhaps many of us who understand that this current political reality is capable of almost anything. How many of us are starting to recognize that not only is our way of life in danger, but soon so may we be. I wonder at what point that the non-Nazi opposition, or the Jews themselves, realized that they had a very real problem as well?

I'm not sure why but, this seemed apropos.

  4. SL - even though urs was a REPLY ...this is a good reminder for all of why it is always important to remove all email addys before one ever hits forward. I have gotten comments from people where I was 5 addys down on their email. I use to put a disclaimer on each of my emails: PLEASE REMOVE ALL PRIVATE INFO BEFORE FORWARDING.

  5. Texas is one of the States that actually has a State Guard, which is the Governor's Army. The National Guard are, in truth, a reserve unit of the US Federal Military and belong more to the Government in DC than they belong to the State and the funding of them reflects this. Friend of mine is Texas State Guard. A LOT of them were in Nawlins for Katrina because the Louisiana National Guard was pretty much all deployed elsewhere at the time for D.C., so the Texas State Guard was one of the units, along with a lot of OTHER STATE'S National Guards, that went to help maintain order and clean things up.

Minor quibble, but it's a fact. National guards are armies that belong to D.C. a LOT more than they belong to Governors. 22 States and P.R. have State Guard Units. If your orders (and funding) have anything to do with the National Guard Bureau or Army National Guard, you belong to D.C. not your State and will be deployed accordingly.

  6. Sean, you forgot to mention the deployment of regular Army and Marine troops in support of suppressing the rioting in Los Angeles in the wake of the Rodney King trial.
